YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), officiated the 12th Annual Meeting of The ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy at Renaissance Hotel, Johor Bahru, this morning.

The meeting was held at a time when the transition to clean energy is accelerating, climate resilience is becoming an urgent priority, and new technologies are reshaping the energy landscape. In this context, nuclear energy and other advanced technologies are once again gaining attention as low-carbon solutions for countries seeking to diversify their energy sources and reduce carbon emissions.

The Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO), MyPOWER Corporation, has been tasked with coordinating preparatory efforts in accordance with the guidelines recommended by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

This preparatory phase is implemented through a well-structured coordination framework involving technical committees across Ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure a comprehensive and integrated national approach. Its implementation will follow IAEA guidance and methodology, covering aspects such as national positioning, legal and regulatory frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and human resource development.

Also present at the event were YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar Johor, YB Mr. Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and YBhg. Dato' Haji Mad Zaidi bin Mohd Karli, Secretary-General of the PETRA.
